Bath College is a Further Education College situated in the vibrant and historic city of Bath, England. The college has well established courses ranging from 'Hair and Beauty' to more technical disciplines such as 'Building Services Engineering'. The Building Services Engineering Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes are both BTEC qualifications at level 4 and 5.

The Building Services Engineering course covers a number of units including 'Building Management Systems for Building Services Engineers'. This unit focuses on controls theory and application in the built environment. One of the industry’s biggest challenges at present is to reduce the carbon footprint of our built environment. Building controls is widely recognised as holding the greatest opportunities for reducing carbon emissions, increasing plant efficiency, user satisfaction and productivity. Introduction to Direct Digital Control (DDC)

  • Describe what a DDC is and have a basic understanding of the functions these devices can perform
  • Describe common terminologies used by a DDC
  • Understand the fundamentals of how PID Loops function
  • Describe some basic programming blocks used in a DDC configuration

DDC Networking Basics

  • Have an understanding of why we network DDC's
  • Understand how DDC's communicate and share information

  • Describe a DDC program
